Orion Maps question

So I set up an Orion Map for our network and I let all the links auto connect. The links show up as a single link even though there are 2 physical links which I understand is the norm. Now I have an issue at a site where some equipment failure has taken out both links between it and 2 other sites. Now instead of these links going red, they've just disappeared of my map? Is that normal behaviour?

I'm really trying to like Orion Maps but so far my old trusty network atlas map displays exactly what's going on. Orion Map is all green as the links have just disappeared. I assume they'll come back when the issue is resolved.

Did you try to manually poll those interfaces ?

The discovery is not working for many vendors LAG interfaces or mixing vendors..

@sja I mustn't have made the issue clear enough. The links were on the map for months but now that they are down, they've just disappeared off the map instead of going red (I assume that's how a link that's down would show up on a map).

So once the links are fixed, I assume they'll just automatically re-appear on my map. My question is "is it normal for a link to disappear of the Orion Map when it is down"?

@superfly Yes this is what happens on our maps when the links are discovered via topolgy.

To get round this for us we also created manual connections which sit on top of the topology ones, so that when the link goes down, the topology one disappears and then you are left with the manual connection showing down as 'red' like the picture below.

I like to have very few maps & they are static.

@superfly @dunky2k and @sja - This is certainly a very interesting topic. In the past with Network Atlas, it uses "Auto-Connect" as a one time tool, which perhaps could be something that changes in Orion Maps, but then we might start seeing the same complaints as before where maps required too much maintenance and "cleaning".

I am curious, in this situation I assume the connection disappears from the NPM Topology Widget as well correct? In thinking out loud, perhaps we could instrument some sort of "timer" to maintain that connection on the map for a period of time? I wonder for how long would be appropriate?

What do you all think would be the answer? Do you have other thoughts or behaviors you would like to see for this particular issue?
