Troubleshoot a device template

We have been backing up a Fortigate ADC that was backing up using a device template we created (as couldn't find one on Thwack or built-in).

Anyway, this has now stopped working and I'm wondering if there is a way to troubleshoot the template by stepping through a backup attempt, or a log file that would show me that?

Suggestions please?
