SolarWinds NPM and Management Pack Performance Data collected is incorrect

Question

Hi,

We are currently running SolarWinds NPM application and SolarWinds NPM Management Pack for bringing the data from NPM to SCOM.

We noticed that some performance data from the SolarWinds NPM to SCOM are incorrect.

Example: You will probably understand it is not plausible to have a straight line when it comes to Bits(In/Out) PerSecond for a network interface (see attached screenshot).

We have re-run SolarWinds NPM Management Pack Configuration Utility on our SCOM Management Server but it did not help.

Seems that counters in SolarWinds NPM itself do show fluctuating counters for the same interface(s) as well.

How can we fix this issue?

Are you monitoring an interface using NPM?

Yes we are monitoring the Interface using NPM.

Is the interface used for any other traffic?

No sure.

What SCOM version are you running?

SCOM 2012 R2 UR 14.

We are using NPM to monitor Network Nodes and Interfaces and that monitoring information is forwarder to SCOM via the SOlarWinds Management PAck for SCOM.

What version of SolarWinds do you have?

NPM 2019.4

Note: We can see other similar interfaces show correct performance data.

I think that there could be a number of reasons why the data seems to be incorrect.

Are you monitoring an interface using NPM? Is the interface used for any other traffic? ie, VoIP?

What SCOM version are you running? I think that SCOM 2012 can only monitor windows.

What version of SolarWinds do you have?
