Why RAID recommendations only apply to physical environments ?

Hi,

I need help regarding RAID configuration, I will use virtual environment for the SW APP (NPM, NCM, NTA) and DB I found below comment in the HW requirements. But I don't get how to benefit from RAID in this case. and if this means tat RAID is not supported in virtual APP and DB environments ?

"RAID recommendations only apply to physical environments. If you have your Orion Platform server installed on a virtual machine, these recommendations do not apply to your environment."

I think it may also relate to the fact that in a virtual environment you are most likely using SAN storage, where disk redundancy is already set at the pool or array levels. A lot of different factors (technical or personnel) may limit options around how disk redundancy is configured.
