Design questions - APE or not to APE

Dear SolarWinds Users and techs,

Question:

I have around 2000 interfaces to monitor. I will use NPM NCM and NTA.

However, some sites are connected via high latency links.

Would an APE be beneficial? Would it create less load on the bandwidth? How does it work exactly?

Hi

I would say - Don't use APE's.

Why, because SMTP and WMI protocols handle the latency better than the SQL protocol.

You might end up with long locks on tables as the APE updates info. Stopping "local" queries from running.
