netpath probe not showing results - VPN endpoint

im trying to get a netpath agent working over on a laptop that has remote VPN connectivity back to on-prem. However I'm not getting results, the logs show that the netpath agent is complaining about not being to find the mac address of the gateway on the laptop. looking around it seems last year there was an issue with 0.0.0.0/0 route that shows as on-link instead of a gateway ... but i dont see any resolution except a suggestion to delete 0/0 route (which is not the best option here for me)

ErrorCode: NetPath_10033
Message: Failed to reinitialize the job either unable to retrieve IP address for target site: Z.z.z.z., or unable to get default gateway mac address. aborting...

Can you reach the target for Netpath from the client manually? Like if you are setting up a Netpath to a website, can you reach it from a browser on the client?

Also, netpath it not that good at handling proxies if such is involved.

no proxies..

i can reach netpath and laptop at the end (https://laptopname:PORTNUMBER) per netpath troubleshooting steps from the Orion server. Connectivity is NOT the issue from what i can tell... its the client telling me it can't find the gateway's arp

issue is definitely netpath not being able to find the right gateway, i forced a /32 subnet into the VPN tunnel and added a probe - that works.. anything else that has to use my 0/0 path through the tunnel is getting the error message about "... or unable to get default gateway mac address. aborting..."

no proxies just default route and out we go..

it seems like if there is an on-link route netpath agent is not working, if there is a route with a defined gateway netpath agent works..

I'm running into the same issues and have been asked to look at the same type of data to get an idea of how the remote worker experience is. Do you have a ticket open for this or have you found any solutions outside of deleting the route?
