Alerting on Wireless Access Point

I've setup an Alert using a Trigger Condition of " I want to alert on: Wireless Access Point"

Alert is working when an AP's goes down, however if the controller goes down all the AP's go down and i get a flood of alerts which i do not want.

I know you can setup dependencies using groups which i have done to the best of my knowledge but i suspect it will not work.

Two questions:

1) Will this work?

2) Is there a way to test this without actually bringing down the controller in a production environment.

You can try adding to your trigger condition an and statement that the (controller is = up and AP is = down)
