Our company had an outage a couple weeks back due to our ISP.
My expectations was that we would get an alert that one of our devices see's a port down (outside) but we did not. Because we have a dedicated tunnel for East/West traffic, Solarwinds did not notice any issues as all devices were communicating on the private IP.
Is there a way to do out of band monitoring? We have 9 locations and I can spin up another polling server on each site but it would still be using a private IP for communication. Does Solarwinds have a way to test the public cloud periodically.
Or am I over complicating it and should just look for alerts on a layer3-4 device where the public uplink is?
