@ Someone in Teams Alert

Question

Hey All,

I'm trying to be able to put in an @ into my Teams channel alerts. I'd like it when an alert for South America triggers, for it to @ the correct people responsible for the device. I noticed that if I put the @ directly into the alert, it prevents the alert from triggering. I called SW and they stated that the @ has to come from the DB, so how would I make this work for multiple people? Any suggestions?

I added the custom property and then injected the following into the html:

Any idea what is wrong because it keeps the entire alert from even triggering in TEAMS. The last line being the custom property.

I haven't created Teams alerts in Orion yet, but it sounds like you could use the same strategy that works for using custom email recipients through variables in alert configurations. Here's how we did it:

* Created PrimaryContact and SecondaryContact custom properties on node and application object types in Orion.
* Populated at least the PrimaryContact custom property with a recipient's email address on every node and on every monitored application.
* Created a 'Send an Email/Page' action with the desired content and put variables for the custom properties in the 'To:' ( ${N=SwisEntity;M=CustomProperties.PrimaryContact} ) and "Cc:' ( ${N=SwisEntity;M=CustomProperties.SecondaryContact} ) boxes.

This allows you to specify a unique recipient for every node and monitored application. The recipients section of the action configuration does allow you to enter more than one email address, so you could include the systems/network team as well as any relevant application owners.

Use this same technique to @ mention a colleague in Microsoft Teams.

As an aside, we use OpsGenie for alert management, so I have another custom property for the ResponsibleTeam, which is used to route the alerts to one of our configured teams in OpsGenie.
