OSPF Alerts

Hey everyone, I've been trying to get this to work for months but I've had no luck. My organization needs an alert in Solarwinds for when this happens "from 2WAY to DOWN, Neighbor Down: Dead timer expired"

We used the Out of the Box OSPF Neighbor Down alert before but it spammed our mail box for each and every neighbor that we lost. Basically, what we need is if a node loses an OSPF neighbor relationship, we just want to know which node originated that rather than having an alert for each node that lost a neighbor.

If anyone has this working it will be much appreciated. Let me know thanks. I have attached how our current alert is set up but its not working...

We set up all of our routers to send us syslog messages whenever there are OSPF events and then trigger alerts based off of those events. It works more in real time when that occurs. In that way you get the complete info including the hostnames and interfaces.

You will need to set up syslog logging on your routers which is fairly simple. Just look up the logging command for your router model. When you set it up you will need to set up a logging destination address which will be your SolarWinds server then you can use the Syslog Rule Engine either on your SolarWinds Server or in the SolarWinds website depending on what version of NPM you are running.
