Old active alerts after upgrading Orion

Question

Curious if anyone knows what happens after you upgrade NPM with old alerts.  Will be upgrading from 12.3->2019.4, but if I have 100 or so active alerts.  Will they get triggered again after the upgrade?   We just have a large deployment and duplicate alerts could cause some confusion.

To be safe with the recommendations here, pause before upgrade.  Then undo pause after upgrades are completed.

Exactly that - Any active alerts will still be in the database when you bring the system back online. So unless the condition has cleared once the polling engine checks it will then update the alert table.

Don't forget that unless you have repeat alert trigger conditions then existing alerts won't trigger new emails etc it will only be for new conditions. One of the reasons a lot of people "Pause Alert Actions" is to prevent false positives while the environment comes up cleanly.

Make sure you pause alerts BEFORE you shutdown servers and begin updated (I would even recommend pausing them when you take your DB Backup so that if you have to restore the flag is active).
