SNMP Trap discard

Question

Hi Experts,

i have setup NPM as trap receiver and configured a rule to discard a certain trap using the Trap OID, which i see in the Trap page for that trap.

however, i still see the trap showing up.

i also tried creating as a Global preprocessing rule (earlier i tried under Trap) but the Trap is still showing up in the trap page.

why is it so?

Hi,

Thats a good suggestion though. i did this instead.

log entries - changed to "fire this rule for all log entries". This should match everything.

log entry action - first "discard message" then "Stop processing rules"

created this under "global preprocessing".

i still see the traps.

It sounds like your match may not be matching, have you tried a different action such as having it send an email to you to ensure the match is being made correctly? Then once you verified the match then you could enable the stop processing action?
