Transfer Trapviewer email capability to Logviewer

While I agree that Logviewer is the next generation of handling syslog and trap notifications.  It is the answer to what Trapviewer lacked in that it could not easily generate alerts.  However in moving to Logviewer, it lost the capability of providing data elements that useful when sending email alerts.

I currently monitor 85 gas turbines engines around the world and when the engine has an error or is started, we have an application that send a trap notification with a specific community string and associated data.  When Trapviewer sees the community string, it sends an email to specific engineers with critical data elements that help them proactively work with our customers to minimize damage or provide guidance in fixing the issues.  This is a critical business advantage for my company against competitors.

Logviewer has the data in its table but there is no way to send the emails from it with the critical data elements.  We are able to get the alerts, but without the data, it is useless.

I have attached a copy of the Logviewer traps that we have received and highlights that needed data elements are present.

I have reverted back to Trapviewer and hope that soon I can use Logviewer.

The real issue that Trapviewer provided all of functionality that I was able to hand over to the engine support group to program their own messages and what recipients would receive them.

Engine support group are not programmers so using Powershell is out of the question.  So it begs the question why did the Logviewer developers not bring the email functionality and merge it with the alert function.  Changing the database was ok but loss of easily formatting messages was a key loss in progress.

As a workaround you may be able to use the 'execute a program' action and send an email via a powershell script?
