We are in the process of adding in thousands of nodes to an NPM installation and we are in the process of creating the dependencies. On the "Select a parent object for this dependency" the drop downs default to "SHOW ONLY: Nodes" and "GROUP BY: Vendor". Using those values when we attempt to search for the parent by name in the Search window on the left side of the page, it only shows nodes that are in the default vendor (in our case "3Com") which is the very top vendor listed. Therefore, in order to search for the node we would like as the parent, we have to change the "GROUP BY:" dropdown to "[No Grouping]". Once that is done we can search for the correct node. However, this adds 5 to 10 seconds (if the child is a node as well) to the process of searching for the parent and/or child.
Can we either have:
1. the default "GROUP BY:" changed to "[No Grouping]"; or
2. change the search field to search in each "GROUP BY:" category regardless of what has been chosen in the dropdown?
At this time, the option 2 is already in place in the Manage Groups, Add New Group, and when searching in the "Add Orion Objects to your new Group" page. The default "GROUP BY:" is set to "Vendor" but I can search for any node regardless of vendor.
If anyone has figured out a way to change this or if they are experiencing different behavior, please do let me know. Otherwise, I would appreciate you voting for my feature request.
