Manage Nodes - Maintenance Mode - Schedule, Allow a scheduled deletion of a node at a future time.

I often get requests that state servers A,B,C are being replaced at this future time/date with servers D, E, F as part of peoples change requests. Many times it is off hours.

Presently I can add the new servers, unmanage them or disable alerts until a future time when they are scheduled to be brought online but I can't schedule the deletion of the old servers using the Schedule feature and this either forces me to delete the servers prior to the change, leaving them unmonitored for a period of time. I can get up in the middle of the night and delete them, but that's not really feasible. I can try to communicate to the NOC that these are going off line and expect alerts, but that's not ideal either.

I know I could do this through SDK but it would be nice if the product did it out of the box.

Anyone else run into this?

You could script it in PowerShell and set a scheduled task to delete it via the API.

I'd like to say that most of my clients, if they know a server is going to be deleted/decommissioned, would either:

Unmanage the node (manually or schedule) and leave a comment in a custom property (or even a Decommissioned status property) and delete the node at a later time, or
Delete the node before it's decommissioned as they know they no longer need to monitor it

What commonly happens instead is:

The decommissioning happens and the VM is deleted, SolarWinds reports the node as down, the SW admin then deletes the node when they see the alert in the morning

Then you can just run a report of items with a decommission date older than XX days and delete them.
