SQL 2019 Install/Config

Hello all. I am so lost!

I have a very old Orion install that's been running fine. But its time for a change. I have server 2019 and SQL 2019. I know nothing about SQL. Can someone direct me to a SQL installation checklist, seriously, step by step? I am in over my head.

So throwing someone to the wolves and having them just figure it out is not uncommon in smaller environments. If that applies to you then don't worry, a small environment doesn't really need too much advanced config to keep the lights on. On the other hand, if you don't have a small environment (for example you have multiple polling engines and thousands of nodes) then you guys should really try to bring in someone who knows what they are doing with SQL because at that scale little things start to add up and fixing it after the fact is a real pain.

Assuming there is room for you to learn by trial and error, take it from the source

Thanks so much! This will get me going. We are only one polling engine and less than a hundred nodes.
