Being still very new to SolarWinds, I'm finding myself a little overwhelemed by everything the product can do. It seems like there are a number products installed on a number of servers which results in a larger number of services/processes running on those servers. Ours is a relatively simple installtion I would guess in that we have a centralized deployment with one remote site. We run NPM, NCM, IPAM, SAM, UDT, VOIP and Network Quality Manager. There is the central CORE/WEB/PrimaryPoller along with two APEs, and one APE in a Remote Datacenter. With that in mind I'm trying to understand extactly what should be running where and why. Certinaly there has to be a set of common services on all the servers and then perhaps product specific services on others? Is there something that describes these services, what they do and where they belong? It doesn't seem right that I should have all products on all servers regardless of what they do?
