Additional polling engine status is down

Hi Team,

i am evaluating NPM and currently stuck with this APE showing down issue.

DNS host entry is correct both MP and APE.

Timezone is same.

There is no port blocking in the path.

Windows Firewall disabled in both. no 3rd party AV software installed.

tried restarting services in both MP And AP. even re-installed AP.

windows is upto date.

This setup was working fine earlier and the evaluation license expired. i renewed all the licenses except "scalability engine" license.

could this be the reason why polling engine is down?

The doc says it will just stop polling after expiry. it doesnt say it will be shown down.

running SW active diagnostics in APE, getting the following error.

TITLE: Connect to Messaging Service (Agent Infrastructure)
DISCOVERED: 2/22/2020 3:09:34 PM
RESOLUTION: Check the status of the Orion Module Engine service. If it is stopped, start the service. Otherwise try to restart the service. For Additional Polling Engines, check whether all prerequisites of the Agent Management Service are properly installed.
DESCRIPTION: Pinging the messaging service has failed. The Agent Management Service is probably offline or the messaging infrastructure does not work correctly.

It's more than likely down due to the license being expired. When they can't verify licensing the APE's stop some of their services.

all the services are running in both APE and MP but the orion web console shows poller is down as below.

if i try to create a discovery profile for this poller, following error occurs

No valid connection information received for a service 'ServiceId: Core.BusinessLayer, ServiceLogicalInstanceId: engine:14, ServiceInstancePropertyFilters: isLocal-False, isStreamed-False'.

if i delete and re-install, it shows up for a short time and then remains down.

I wouldn't worry about much of that until the licenses are squared away. Do you have a valid additional polling engine license assigned to it? If not like already mentioned.. some services and functionality simply no work without it. Even if it showed up... it won't do any good without a license anyway.

i thought of not wasting time till i get it if the issue is not related to license.

i am working on getting the license. let me get that and then try.
