I see the alert for node rebooted in NPM 12.0. Is there a way to trigger the alert/email only when the reboot is unplanned?

You could used the scheduled unmanage utility to unmanage servers during planned reboots, there fore getting correct unplanned reboot alerts.
For Windows only, check the recently posted dirty shutdown monitor template posted on Thwack. Or create your own with the event IDs.

I used the unmanage scheduling utility with task scheduler to set up tasks to unmanage during scheduled reboots.
