What constitutes a "child" of a node? Are interfaces considered children of a node?
Interfaces and volumes are implicit children to the node they reside on. You don't have to define that when creating dependencies.
Thank you Andy. I should have been more explicit. I was referring to the Child Rollup Status choices that one has on the Webconsole Settings page. What is the difference between Show Worst Status, Show Worst Status (Interfaces Only) and Show Worst Status (Applications Only).
Also, the explanation beside the Child Rollup Status is a little ambiguous it seems.
For APM, there are interface and application implicit children to nodes. What the choices allow is the ability to show the ICMP status of the node and the status of the child you choose. The result for choosing Show worst status (Interface Only) is that if an interface is down there will be a small red square in the lower right section of the green node up icon. Same logic for application only. The show worst status one just uses the child with the worst status, without regard to what type it is.
Is there a method to allow this (small indicative square) for application templates? For example, if I have one SQL counter that is at a critical level, I don't really want the entire application to show as critical no matter what.
