Managing Riverbed Steelhead Nodes

Hello Everyone,

We have Steelhead in our environment, but they are unmanaged nodes. They are configured with SNMP, and when attempting discovery we see all the resources listed normally. But then we try to add the node, we get the error "The type initializer for 'SolarWinds.Orion.Core.BusinessLayer.DAL.interfaceBLDA' threw an exception." The node cannot be added.

Anyone know how to work around this?

Hi Brent,

if you have a Mainpoller with atleast one additional PollingEngine, please check the .NET Frameworks. They need to be the same on every server.

You could also set the log level higher. On your Mainpoller use the "Solarwinds Log Adjuster" and set the log level of the 3 business layer plugins to "debug". You can find the logs at C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Logs\Orion

Maybe you can see something yourself. But dont get too distracted, because they will be tons of messages.

Your best bet will be opening a ticket and get in contact with the solarwinds support, if thats is not already the case.
