Passthrough Security Quirk

I'd like to use automatic (NTLM) login on my Orion installation, but the domain I use has a small quirk. The names are as follows:

DOMAIN\lastname.firstname

Orion doesn't like having that . in there. Is there going to be an update or does anyone know of a workaround which can make this work?
