9.5 Is Painfully Slow

Hi,

I just upgraded from 9.1 to 9.5 SP2 and hot fixes, and I have to say you missed the mark! In the past the upgrades were fairly well done, but this one (in my opinion) was horrbile. I had to open 4 troubletickets just one the upgrade alone, and they did everything they could to make the performance better but no luck.

As I am just re-building the entire network map/devices I feel I am down to about 25% of the productivity I had with 9.1. So far I only see one feature that is OK (drag and drop), but the new way of doing things in NetAtlas and via the web is cumbersome and SLOW!

If I did not have to install the new version of NCM, I would not have gone to this upgrade. I understand the changes were to add functionality requested and for the future, but I have to ask; have you created functionality for a few major customers while leaving the rest of us to stuggle with features and functionality we did not ask for?

Sorry to rant, but this new version is painful with little gain, and I can now longer recommend Solarwinds as an NMS until this product matures more.

We run a pretty big implementation of it and its ok for us. Only reason I mention this is maybe you need an additional poller or a dedicated web box or something of the sort.

Since we have upgraded to 9.5 SP2 the system speed/performance has increased drastically. Prior we would wait for a good 30 seconds for a page to load.

I am please it's working for you guys. In my case this is a very small implementation (@ 250 nodes) and as someone who has built 9 Orion implementation for customers, this is by far the most painfull.

I will open another ticket to see if another Engineer can make this even usable. I am also hoping Solarwinds will bring back some of the functionality the implementation has taken away from previous releases.

We had issues pre-9.5 with slowness, and those were ultimately linked to running the poller and database on the same machine. Once we separated the database, things improved.

StealthNet, I am sorry to hear you are experiencing some issues. Please open a ticket so we can look into what is going on. You mention functionality removed from a previous release, can you expand on those items?
