Network Map/Atlas

Somewhat new to Solarwinds, we have identified a need to create a dashboard for several lines of business.  I am looking at creating maps that would show status of application servers that are dependent of other servers, down to switch and router interfaces.

Searched Thwack and have only found high level solutions and videos that show to just drag and drop and it works.  I am sure there are detailed end-to-end examples somewhere, I am not finding these.

Examples are to create groups/dependencies between the different level of servers that support each other and how that ties to the the network map and can show the rollup status, I hope that makes sense.

If anyone has or can point me to any information that would be great.

HIDDEN GEMS IN ORION NETWORK ATLAS, I have created a Blog post on Atlas, i believe this should help you a bit.

With regards to what you are trying to accomplish there are two ways to go about it.

1. Create your user define group in the Orion Console, and set up dependencies if required. Once this group is created you will be able to see this group in your tree view in Orion Atlas, Drag this group to the map and create your desired custom map to represent.
2. Have all you interesting Orion nodes/groups on the map canvas and save this map. Now create a new map and drag and drop the earlier saved map from the tree view to this new map (the map becomes an object to this new map)

Bring up the map on to your console. If any node in the group or map is down, it changes the status of that object.
