Device Polling after it has been deleted

HI,

We are replacing some network gear and at the same time moving from polling them via SNMP v2 to SNMP v3.

Before we can rediscover the new device via SNMP v3 we have to delete the "old device" which we were polling via SNMP v2. (we are using the same IP Address on the device)

After I delete the (snmp v2) device from solarwinds I noticed that it keep polling the device for another 15-20 minutes... Any Idea why ?

How do I know that solarwinds is still polling this device (via snmp v2) for 15-20 minutes after it's been deleted?

I'm ssh'd into the device and can see the SNMP-Auth-Failures when looking at the syslog on the device...

You could keep the device and simply change credentials/ list resources/ select what you want to monitor/ delete non-existent interfaces. Then you can keep history. Personal preference, but how it was done where I've worked.

Thanks for the reply d09h, but replacing ciscos with junipers so different interfaces numbering and can't keep historical info.

Probably it could be your db or there could be a lag, once you delete the device from GUI check if its removed from the db completely.

You can also stop and restart the polling services before and after removal, if it is being really stubborn.

That can help clear the cache. There is a useful tool that lets you start/stop them all at once.
