Effect of changing the IP of Orion server

Question

Hello Guys

A client is planning to change the Orion polling server and the SQL server to another vlan on their network.
This will warrant them to change the IP addresses  of the servers.  Most
of the network resources being monitored were pointing to the old IP of the
Orion server. I try to make them realize the consequence of
making this change.

Is there any way to point the network resources especially the
ones SNMP and Netflow are configured on to the new IP without configuring each
of them all over again?

if it is a windows device the agent should be using the dns name not an ip

if not then you can push an update to the snmp agent with a GPO update.

for all switches and routers just use ncm to push the new ip and once you have it moved go back and remove the old one.

Along the same lines of what bsciencefiction.tv  posted, you could configure port forwarding via an application (such as IPTables). Alternatively, there are protocol specific solutions. For instance, for SNMP you could use a trap multiplexer, such as Trap Blaster or Trap Exploder to use the old IP and forward traps to the new IP(s).

Could you just NAT the IP address?
