Duplicate alerts - Node Reboots

Question

After transitioning our Basic Alerts "Page me when a node reboots" to the Advanced Alert, I am now receiving duplicate alerts each time a node reboots.  It typically happens one right after the other.  Is anyone else seeing this behavior with the Advanced Alerts?

Same thing here and I have a feeling this is exactly what is causing it in our environment. I will go and change all "alert check intervals" now... Thanks

there is also another area you can use to eliminate this issue.

there is a place to set a time that the alert is triggered before sending the alert.

I had to start using this with some of the servers that were having SNMP failures. when restarting the SNMP service i could see up to 5 hits on the alert before the service was stable again.

for most alerts i set this time to twice that of the polling,  setting will depend on the crtiacality of the problem.

The reason for the duplicate is that the alert check interval is less than the Orion polling interval.  Orion polls every 2 minutes by default and the Advanced alerts poll every 1 minute.  So there are 2 minutes when the "has rebooted" status in Orion is true.  Since the alert polls twice during this interval, you get 2 alerts.

You should be able to change the check time to every 2 minutes (3 at the max) to avoid the duplicates and still get a fairly quick notification.
