Using Report Scheduler to email reports

I have a weekly report setup to run and be emailed, but I never get it. If I do a run now on the scheduled job it works just fine. I don't see any logs or any way to troubleshoot it, can any help?

When does it say the "last run" was when the jobs seem to be failing?

What account are you using to run the Report Scheduler? Have you set this up in the Report Scheduler?

When you test the e-mail, it is using the account you are logged in with,
but if no one is logged into the server when the Scheduled report is supposed to run,
then is can't send the job.

You should also be able to see the log of reports sent in the following location:

C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Network Performance Monitor V7\RunOrionJob.Log

Ok, looks like now it wont even do the run now option. I have found that if I click on the link, it takes me to the login page, so I think that is a problem. I have the option set to login in and put in a user and pass that I know works. I have also tried leaving a TS session open and report scheduler running, so I don't think it is a login account permission for that part. I have even tried it with a admin account just to make sure it is not a permission thing.

It seems that it is not passing the login info in the url. I remember reading something about Microsoft putting out a patch that would not allow that any more, could that be what is happening? How do I get around this?

Edit: Ok I just went through and reselected the URLs for the two I am testing with, double checked all the paswords and then did a run now on both and they worked. I set them to run a few minutes later and they worked. This is the same thing I have done in the past. I bet if I wait until next Friday when they are suppose to run they wont. I will post back and let you know.

I have found the web login part of the Report Scheduler to be very unpredictable.
I have found in some cases I have had to delete the report and start from scratch.
I find it best not to use a Username & Password to view the webpage, but rather the
directlink account. I leave the web login fields empty. If you have entered a web
login already, sometimes just removing the username & password will not work. You
must recreate the report from scratch. Sometimes just copying and pasting the URL for
the webpage you want to e-mail works better than using the integrated Report Scheduler
browser. When you receive the report, you can check the account used for the web login
down at the bottom left of the page.

I've had no problems with the web login on the report writer...but as part of the SLX installation I run here, I use localhost to send out the scheduled reports.

Everyone else just runs off an additional web engine so there are no conflicts.

Below is the error I am getting. I spaced out the reports by 5 minutes which I thought had fixed the problem, but then this morning again one failed. I created an account with no password and that did not help. If I go in and set them for like 5 minutes in the future, they seem to run fine. Leave them alone until the next morning and either one or both will fail, it is kinda random. I leave a TS open, everything logged in and report scheduler is running. Anyone know anything else I can try?

Is it a particularly long report to run? The web application has a maximum execution time of 120 seconds, which cannot be modified...and this will cause problems if your query is particularly intense. I've had to more finely-tune queries in order to get them to run in the limited space.

Man, every time it seems I touch something to do with SWs this reporting breaks. This time I upgraded our Tool Set which runs on the same box as NPM and now I get this error.

If I use the report scheduler to view the page, it gets directly to the above page without error. If I launch IE on the server, it does not automatically log in for some reason. The account I am logged onto the server with has an account in SW as all our other admin users. This is also a new job I created as it has been mentioned that sometimes you have to start from scratch.

I could never get the direct link stuff to work for me. Why can't SW get a solid, easy to use working automated reports? ARgggghhhh

Ok, so now I got it to the point where it is emailing me, but I just get the login page. For some reason it is not passing the credentials.

EDIT:

DAG!, finally got it working again. I had some security updates to install so I did that and rebooted. Still no luck. I unchecked Send Orion User/Pass in URL and it started working again.

OK, no one breath or make any disturbances.
