I am pretty sure I saw something like this in a posting earlier, but I can't find it. After moving to 8.x (now: 8.5.0_2) my node list has been altered. An empty custom property fields, that used to result into a truncated tree, now is shown as empty red/green balls. The definition of the list is like this:
