Using Perl script as an Alert Action

I have a perl script which works fine fom the command line

I want to run the script as the trigger action of an alert but when I set it as an external program the test log returns an unable to find program error (yes I've checked the path is correct ) and the script does not run

has anyone had any success with this kind of thing or is it just not possible?

There was an issue that required double quotes to execute an external program, I believe addressed in SP3.

If the command does not start with a double quote character ("), then the engine will wrap the whole thing, parameters and all, in double quotes before executing it. To prevent this, make sure that the program name is wrapped in double quotes even if it doesn't need it.

Wrong: C:\foo\bar.exe -option ${Variable}

Right: "C:\foo\bar.exe" -option ${Variable
