Orion 8.1 - Nodes are showing as Unknown

We have over 200 nodes in Orion showing as Unknown Vendor and Machine Type. These all appear to be our Windows XP desktops and when I try to 'Rediscover' the nodes in the detail panel, I get an 'Unable to validate this node with the supplied credentials' message. I installed SNMP on one of the workstations and rebooted just in case this was the issue but to no avail.

Windows Firewalling is turned off also.

Wer had a similar issue with some of our 3COM switches and what we did was change the SNMP ver to 1 as during the upgrade it defaults all SNMP versions for all devices to 2c.

I had the same behaviour on all my discovered Windows Server 2003 nodes. Those nodes had been added by network discovery, so I deleted them, and added them manually in Orion Network Manager (having first made sure to set the required community strings the properties of SNMP service in Windows Service Manager.)

This time around, all details showed up.
