NPM Console - Manage Node is a bad redirection

Working environment: Core 2011.1.0, APM 4.0.2, NPM 10.1.2, IVIM 1.1.1

In the Console of the 10.1.2 environment we are redirected to a url to define or manage a node. In my environment the redirection is wrong.

http://[server name]/Orion/Nodes/NodeProperties.aspx?Nodes=189 will not properly display a node, since the web interface is not defined with the same ip address as the polling interface. Also when access the web interface you can not see any devices removed from the system. How are you able to manage this within this new framework.

Someone must have been in charge of looking at what functionality would be lost when these console changes were proposed by the development team and determine how to migrate it to the web interface?

Recommendation to SW Development:

1. Since the intent is abandon the use of the server console to the web interface (Good idea) would be to include in the Orion Configuration Wizard a dialog box to the full-qualified domain name of the Orion NPM web site and optional port number. You may also wish to do the same for Orion NCM Configuration Manager.

In this installation the server's netbios name is associated to the polling engine. The npm webiste has it's own dedicated ip address associated with a dedicated NIC, in addition to another IP address dedicated to the Cirrus (NCM) web-site. The tftp installation has it's own dedicated IP Address. etc.

If you are wondering why this was done. Maintenance or failure of one network card or application should not affect productive use of another.

The answer lies in the database.

Open SW database Manager
Open Database (NetPerfMon)
Scroll for table Websites
right click select Query Table...
Change Display to ReadWrite and Refresh

Change the Field ServerName to Fully-qualified address for the WebSite.

(Note: Until there is a installation fix to ask the question regarding the website this will need to be edited on each update.)
