IBM Hardware Information

Question

Could someone point me in the right direction on how to set up a UnDP to pull IBM hardware information like model, serial #, etc.?  I have seen posts where people talk about installing IBM director agents on the client side to pull SNMP data, but what does that do for me?  Best I can tell, it just installs a bunch of MIB files.  Is there some configuration I need to do with these?

I haven't been able to find where anyone has posted the complete process on how to create a UnDP doing this with IBM servers.  I have seen HP info, but no IBM.  When attempting to create a new UnDP and testing OID's that I simply browsed to, I receive 'OID Not Supported'.  I am hoping it's simply something I need to configure on the client side to allow NPM to pull data.

What type of information are you looking for (e.g. different model hardware)?

We're looking for SNMP MIB walks from IBM Servers running the IBM Director Agent software so we can validate/test these in our lab for a server hardware monitoring feature we're currently developing for the next release of APM. More information can be found here ->
