Discovery results - what to do with changes

I'm not clear on how I'm supposed to process the "changed" results from scheduled discoveries. If I click on one of the "new" interfaces and import it, I get messages saying the node is already in the DB and everything is ignored, and the changed interface remains in the discovery list.

What is the normal process for clearing this list out?

On the NPM Import Settings tab are you selecting "Operationally UP' and "Operationally Down" and "Shutdown" If you only choose the first, the import will skip found interfaces that are not up.

Right, so if I don't want to actively monitor them, I ignore them. Then what. They seem to hang around in the discovery results forever.

I just went through in my enviroment and added some interfaces and also ignored some interfaces. I don't see those interfaces any longer in the Scheduled Discovery Results.

So what are the ramifications of ignoring an interface. If I suddenly decide I need to be monitoring an interface say something critical has been connected to it), do I have to remember to go "un-ignore" it (not an unreasonable thing, just wanting to understand what the intended process was)?
