Can NPM be a Windows event log compliance reporter?

Real Newbie question:

Can NPM or any Solarwinds module perform as a SIEM to create auditing compliance reports (SOX, HIPPA, GLBA, from Windows event logs? Or would something like LogLogic or SPLUNK be better?

Orion NPM includes an additional component (see customer portal) called Log Forwarder for Windows that will forward Windows Event as Syslog. However, our focus is more on the operational aspects of logs so we don't have anything specific related to compliance.

didnt even know you could do that... :P

i knew of the logforwarder but didnt know its possible to run a compliance report on it.

definitely sounds interesting thought (as do many other things...)

I think we will make use of the logforwarder once we finished deploying NPM and the modules we purchased.
