Multiple NOC Plasma Displays for Orion

Is anyone using Orion to display information to "NOC" Screens or plasma displays. I now have the request to display maps as well as information from other sources/computers to large plasma displays throughout our corp building, and of course, we do not have anything like this installed. I am assuming this will involve some type of video switching.

Suggestions?

Video switching aside, you should probably look into defining a customized view specifically for the displays, and have a display host refresh the view periodically.

That said, plasma is generally a bad idea for this kind of application. Plasma has a pretty major burn-in problem with static images, and you might end up ruining your display. LCDs are much better-suited to this task.

Aside from the burn-in problem, you could use a separate PC for each Plasma screen.
Each PC would have to be logged into Solarwinds Orion using a Windows Domain account
so that it will not timeout.

We have SW on our NOC Screens... I don't know much about video switching, but im sure many solutions exist.

I'm still trying to find a way to keep SW from timing out. The highest setting in SW is 1440 minutes.

We have a setup where we use a PC with a quad VGA card in it. This gives us 4 monitors each with a seperate sign on a different view. We also have the option of switching any of these views to a screen projector to get a much bigger view.

Thanks for the updates, I will keep the forum posted on what we come up with.
I set up direct link and provided a status map of the US with our WAN circuits so far. We're using it as an active desktop link. It's not timing out at all.

Also, if anyone's interested, we set up a direct link account on a standalone PC connected to a plasma, which cycles through a number of maps and graphs to avoid any burn in problems with the screen. I created 10 htmls files named frame1.html up to frame9.html and the code looks like this for the first file:

Where the ResourceID "75" is the resource number of a map or graph, which you get when you use the detach resource button above a map/graph.
Each html file contains the next frame number in its meta http-equiv URL, up to frame9.html which contains frame1.html in this section to cycle back to the start.

You can change the content part of the meta http-equiv section to change how often the pages refresh.

To Solve the timeout problem, I've written a vb script that sends F5 to the Orion Webpage so that it refreshes automatically and keeps the session alive. I'm using the AutoItX control to send keys to the Internet Explorer Window, but you can use the standard sendkeys method also. Here is the script:
