Hi, gang...
I'm confused by some NPM/Network Atlas/Alerts behavior. I should probably open a case with support, but I thought I would ask here first. So, here's the behavior...
1. An alert that a node is down (WAN router) is detected. Sometimes the icon on Network Atlas goes red first, sometimes I get an e-mail notification first, sometimes the triggered alert shows up first...but never do all three occur at the same time, and usually occur minutes apart.
2. When I drill into the Network Atlas icon, which represents a LAN segment associated with the WAN link, the device that caused the alert is still green with 1 red interface. In this case, it is a router with a down WAN link.
3. After the next router polling cycle (2 minute default), the Network Atlas icon turns grey. Sometimes the icon goes from green to grey, bypassing red altogether. But bottomline is, it shouldn't be grey, should it?
You will probably need more details, and I probably don't explain this accurately, but I'm so confused by the behavior that I don't even know where to start t-shooting. I'm positive this is a misconfiguration on my part, but as a rookie, I'm not sure where to start looking for answers.
