End-Devices without SNMP support.

Hello, I currently evaluating Orion NPM, IP SLA, and Netflow, so far now the application pass all the main test in the laboratory.

In one of the many proyects of my company i have end-users who need to see status (up/down) of wireless device's like it was a router o switch. Unfortunately those radios only send logs to the RBS using the MAC address like ID.

Im not able to create different profiles for the syslog to only see their own CE.
I cannot create a end point device in the NPM because requiere a unique ip address.

If you have a dynamic DNS environment you can add these nodes by their DNS name instead of by IP address and then check the "Dynamic IP Address" check box when adding the node to Orion.

The CE doesnt have layer3, its a bridge.

this might work, but it would be a little wierd. This OID: .1.3.6.1.2.1.17.4.3.1.1 lists the bridge port to MAC addresses.

One thing though, if you are using a vlan other than default, your SNMP string needs to include the vlan with @<VLAN>. ie public for vlan 45 would be public@45

oh, the thing about the vlan, might only relate to cisco. Oh, and a universal poller would need to be used. Can they do tables? just throwing out an idea.
