Upgrade from 10.1.3 to 10.3

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to update our Solarwinds Orion from 10.1.3 to 10.3 and have never really been through the upgrade process before. I browsed through the release notes and was curious with what people's experiences have been or anything i should watch out for before i begin. Is it pretty much a guided installation and migration of all my existing data?

My database is backed up and ready to go and i haven't seen too many posts about having issues but figured i'd ask anyway.

I can only speak as an employee of SolarWinds, but I can say we spend a lot of time making sure that upgrades go smoothly. They aren't always perfect, but I think it's fair to say that we do a much better job with upgrades than we used to do.

In general, it will be a guided installation, followed by a run of the Configuration Wizard. It will migrate any data that needs to be migrated. As long as you have the DB backed up, if something bad happens, you can restore the DB, and re-instal you 10.1.3 version, although the number of situations where that happens is pretty small.

Unless you have some really odd-ball configurations, you should be fine. Its pretty rare (since the 10.x release) that problems happen. Just make sure to follow the guide. I also make sure I do the DB Maintenance before I backup the database, and dont seem to remember having any issues.
