Need to create an alert to check content on a webpage to confirm it's up or not...

I have a company public website, and an internal sharepoint site that I want to build an alert that will check against a selected piece of content (whichever would be best, I'm taking suggestions) and notify on up or down.

Reason why, the sharepoint site has gone down when the server otherwise seemed normal.

Any ideas out there?

Off the top of my head, I don't think there is a way to do it within NPM itself, although you could have something else do it (ie: a router?) and have NPM poll the router to see the results via SNMP?

The basics would be to define an IP SLA for an HTTP operation:

Then, use an UnDP in Solarwinds to poll it, I think it would be via the CISCO-RTTMon MIB? Then, based off that polling value, you should be able to create your alert quite easily?

Hi,

I thing that is possible to monitoring by two ways.

1) You can create an aplication, with (HTTP,HTTPS) component monitor, and monitor the URL that you want. You could apply this template, in another server to monitoring the URL.

2) You can use the Webtransaction, and simulate the access to Site, with this you have the return of all steps that you create.
