Feature Request - DB Monitoring

Question

So we all know the Solarwinds stable now includes SAN monitoring and all the other goodies that came with Profiler.  It will be GREAT when that gets integrated into Orion.

What I would love to see next and something I think Orion is sorely missing is DB monitoring.  It would be awesome to have DB charts, performance numbers and especially alerts.

Not only would this be very useful and replace our current tool for this but I think it would round the product out nicely and make it one of the few one stop shops for monitoring out there.

Ok, I see what you are getting at.  I agree, the Quest tools do a good job.  We were looking at their Foglight tool for VMWare but I have decided to hold off until I see what the next version of NPM/APM provide.

Performance metrics that DBA's care about like fragmentation, mem usage by the actual DB processes etc.  I am not an authority on it either.

Here is an example of what I mean.  This is what we use.  I do not think there is an issue posting this since Solarwinds does not have a competitive product yet.

Regarding your original post on DB monitoring, what specifically is it that you are looking to monitor that you can't get with APM?  It seems DB monitoring in general falls into APM territory as a DB is an application.

I have only brushed some higher level DB monitoring at this point but am curious what you have in mind?
