SQL Server Requirements

Considering that Microsoft SQL Server 2000 is very old technology and becoming harder to find, and since Microsoft is now up to SQL Server 2005, are there any plans to update Orion's system requirements to something more recent?

Has any consideration been given to using a different server, like MySQL?
