Hi Team,
Need help or process to swap Main poller and additional poller in different network.
1. Swap the Main poller from X Network to Y network
2. Convert the Main Poller in X network as APE.
Can you please guide to me.
I want to make sure I'm reading this right. When you say swap the main poller from 'x' network to 'y' network. Are you literally saying you are changing the IP address of the server to move it to a segregated network? What you are trying to do?
Thanks for prompt response.. we have two domains A and B
A domain we have solarwinds monitoring tool one main poller and one additional poller.
now coming to point.
we have to implement the process.
additional polling engine change to main polling engine with different network.we will start new solarwinds installation processing..
my question :
1) can we change Additional polling to main polling engine with different network ?
2) we should require orion scalablity engine ?
3) How much time will take ?
Anything required please guide to me
You do not need to. So it COULD work both ways. IMHO, Your Solarwinds main app server/primary polling engine should stay in Domain A. You can have a poller in domain B but you do not need to, necessarily although you can. If you are monitoring Windows nodes you will need to give Solarwinds a Domain B Credential to poll Windows Servers in Domain B. The server should have WIMRM enabled: How to enable WinRM on Windows servers & clients - InfraSight Labs and the credential should have at least 'server admin' role rights in windows.
You could also do it second way, you could put secondary poller in domain b. and have all nodes in domain b use domain b poller when you add them into solarwinds. Then the domain b poller servers as a 'hub' and talks back to main app server.
I have only seen issues with using NTA and NTA data going to 2 different servers. If you use NTA (netflow traffic) module it is best to point all traffic to one server and one file share.
