SQL timeout when running reports

Hi,
I have upgraded to version 7.5 which apparently adds functionality to adjust the SQL timeout value but can't find out where to adjust it. The release notes say it is in the database manager but I can't find it. Any hints?!?

Hello mickc,

just open the database manager and choose File -> Settings. There you will find the settings for the SQL timeout. Our reports that timedout before are displayed now.

Hi, found the setting & have changed it to 10 minutes but the reports still time out! After making the change I rebooted both the SQL server & the Orion server. Any ideas?

The SQL database timeout for Web Reports can be set in version 7.6.

Edit the SWNetPerfMon.DB file (it is a text file).
Change (or add) the "CommandTimeout" setting.

This setting is in seconds and is now used by the Report generator for the Orion Web site. I believe the default may be 90 seconds. For large databases on slow running SQL Servers you may have to set this much higher.

I have Network Availability reports on our server that can take quite some time to generate. I changed it to "CommandTimeout=300" and the reports now run fine.

One more thing. Setting this to "CommandTimeout=0" uses the SQL or system default. I do not recommend this.

On most systems, this setting is at the bottom of the SWNetPerfMon.DB file with a default of 90 seconds like this ....
