Hi all So I'm doing a fresh installation of Solarwidns Orion (NPM, NCM, NTA and SAM). I cannot seem to get passed the installation because when it gets to website optimization I receive the following error: "Website configuration failed: * connection to Solarwinds information service did not succeed. Last error: There was no endpoint listening at net.tcp://(orion server name):17777Solarwinds/informationService/V3/Orion/certificate that could help the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details." How can I fix this?

Website configuration failed

Hi all

So I'm doing a fresh installation of Solarwidns Orion (NPM, NCM, NTA and SAM). I cannot seem to get passed the installation because when it gets to website optimization I receive the following error:

"Website configuration failed:

connection to Solarwinds information service did not succeed.

How can I fix this?

Are you installing the EOC on the same box as the sql server? if not you will have to check that the firewalls TCP port 17777 open also the solarwinds servers will need 17777 open to both inbound and outbound traffic

So I tried opening the ports and still got the same error. I also installed so things that were not installed on IIS. Restarted the server, went through the conf wizard process and I still get the same error.

go to prog files (x86)\solarwinds\orion and run the orion permissions checker, run repair and run config wizard again.

I just went to installers and tried to repair the agent. Found out it wasn't installed. When I tried installing it, it was unable to connect to my orion server.

The agent has nothing to do with the core install. The agent is for deployment on remote servers to filter wmi traffic back to orion. Did you run the permissions checker?

How about try running config wizard in admin mode? This can (and has in the past) actually made a difference with regards to successes.

Questions:

- What NPM version are you trying to install?

- What .Net Framework versions are available on your Orion server?

- Can you check MMC and find SolarWinds-Orion cert, can you check what if cert is MD5?

- What is the result of Orion Permission checker, as mentioned by jamesatloop1 can you post it here?

I always run it in admin mode. I just repaired the permissions checker now and running the config wizard again. Hope to get different results now

So after permissions checker, the config wizard in admin mode came back with the same error.

Versions:

NPM 11.5.3

NCM7.4.1

NTA 4.1.2

SAM 6.2.3

.NET 4.5.2

WHere do i check MMC?

You need to fix those permissions because the main executables are in the solarwinds directory.

For me this problem was caused by installing Microsoft KB3102467 and resolved by uninstalling that KB, rebooting and then running the Orioin Configuration Wizard. not only that leratob but if you scroll to the right you'll get details on what needs to be done to fix those.

leratob Looking at that, the rights on the inetpub directory is a problem and i would investigate this as the website files are stored in there. Normally what causes this is your antivirus or rebooting the server. Double check you have exclusions in place on the solarwinds relevant directories in your av.

This is not what I'm saying. I'm not saying just hit "repair" on permissions checker. I'm saying check explicitly what it says you need and correct it. Don't assume that hitting "repair" on permissions checker will do the job.

It may say you need permissions to a specific account to that folder for example, and hitting repair won't fix that.

See comment above - hitting repair is not a fix. Scroll to the right, find out what it needs, fix it. Repair isn't always able to fix everything, some of this needs to be done manually.

Just for my own understanding of EOC which I've never worked with or had deployed yet, do people normally do that? The putting EOC on the SQL server part?

designerfx Jesus christ no, needs its own dedicated server...lol... on the sql server! Although all the stuff ive seen it would not surprise me at all if i walked onto a site and saw it.
