Advance Alerts - Interface Down

Question

I have been using basic alerts all this time and now I am trying to figure out advanced alerts. I got most of them but have trouble with "interface down" alerts.

What I have is, a node name but I do not want to get alerted on all its interface's operational status change. I want to get alerted only on a few important links. How do I do this?

There are several ways to do this. One way is to enter a word into the interface description (on the device) which will identify the interface as being an important link, such as, "ImpLink". Then include FullName contains ImpLink as one of your Trigger conditions, as so:

Or, you could identify the interface by the interface ID. Each interface has a unique ID in the database; if you look at the interface details, you will find the ID. Depending on the number of interfaces you monitor, the ID number could be in the thousands, not just a 2-digit number as below). Then you could use this (you could even eliminate the NodeName line if you wanted to).
