Telnet problems!

I am doing a rollout of NPM,APM,NCM, and Netflow

I am wondering how everyone gets around telnet problems? Basically the way we have it configured now is there are access lists on every device that only allows currently CA Spectrum Telnet access.

Problem on NPM if you hit the telnet button, it does it from YOUR computer and not the server. I really can't and don't want to add each user. That would open up a huge problem for remote access. I thought NCM would solve this problem, but it seems like to really modify the configs you have to actually be on the server using the app itself.

I agree someone did a workaround mod which adds a icon that links to an web based ssh client on a machine which would possibly work for you... see:

?PageIndex=2

This way you would only have to add the one ssh client to the ACL I believe.

Unfortunately I think you are right. My current solution is to use ssh and allow ssh in acl's (instead of telnet) or to rdp to the box with access.

I work for the government and we have over 1000 devices. I don't accept that as an acceptable answer. We have too many people that need to access these devices. Solarwinds isn't a network management tool if there is no work around for this. Nice for analyzing, but access is required.
