8.5 SL2000 Upgrade - Config Wizard Issue

Hi,

We upgraded from SL500 8.5 to SL2000 8.5.1 (sp2). Everything went well until the configuration wizard ran. The error prompted was related to the default SQL/ODBC account, but we don't use the local SQL/ODBC we use a backend SQL box. Anyone else come across this issue and know how to fix it? The info from the Configuration Wizard is listed below.

Note: The time required to upgrade the Orion database depends on the size of your database. If you have a large database this may take a while.

I will be intrested to here more about this as I was due to upgrade to 8.5.1 last week. The only reason it did not happen was that I became unavailable to do the upgrade.

I am now looking to do it in the next couple of weeks.

This error means the SQL user account does not have a default database. This usually happens if you delete the user's default database from the SQL Server.

To fix this:

open SQL Management Studio
connect to the SQL server
In the tree, Expand Security, then Logins
Select the SQL User you are using and open the properties dialog
Change the Default Database to valid database and Click OK

You should no longer see this error after completing these steps.

Hi,

I added the SQL server, entered the sa credentials, and can see the NetPerfMon DB. Unfortunately, I only see a "Security" DB that can be expaned and there is no sign of "Logins". I am running this on a back-end SQL 2000 SP4 box. Any thoughts?

Hi,

I was using the SQL Manager in NPM. I downloaded th SQL Management Studio and made the change. My Solar Winds account was pointed to the wrong DB. Very odd...
