How do I create a gauge-able resource from a custom SQL query?

I would like to create a resource that I can display as a gauge showing the average CPU load across a selection of ESXi hosts. I have an SQL query that returns the name of the cluster and the average of the CPU load for all the ESXi hosts in that cluster. The query also returns the current time. I can't seem to find a way to display that data as a gauge - or a chart either. All I can create is a table using either Report Writer or the Web-based Report Writer. Is it possible? (NPM 11.5.2)

Create new application template with SQL User Experience component. Use your SQL script to extract data that you want. Then, you will automatically have your chart on the Component page and I hope you will work out how to add gauge as well as it should be straightforward to add as a resource

Thanks, Alex. I have created the gauge resource for the SQL query. It appears that there are two values returned by the SQL User Experience component monitor even if the query only returns one since I get a response time gauge as well as the gauge for my returned value. I don't see any selections to make that will cause it to ignore the response time - it is a server performance component, after all. Any way around this?

Yes, you will always get Response Time for SQL User Experience Monitors along with your Statistic data. I do appreciate however that you might not want this to be shown on your Gauges and funny enough - I was not able to find Gauge resource which you can add for Component Statistic without having Response time along side. I think this is worth Feature Request if not raised already

As a workaround, I was able to find Linear Gauge which you can use to only display your Statistical values - it is called "Multi Component Statistic - Linear Gauges". Just add this to your Component page and then edit this resource by selecting component(s) that you want to display. Important notice here - this will not universally fit to all your Components as it will be specific to just this one component only.

I personally always use charts, as they give me more information and historical trends at a glance. With regards to last collected value - you can always check this from "Component Details" resource
