Grouping nodes together by building and displaying in Orion Web Console

Currently, there is an option to display "top 10 node by etc".. We would like to change this somehow to report by building. Some building have only one switch/node, other building have more than one node/switch.. Is there a way that Solarwinds can combine all the nodes from on building and be displayed as a total for that location instead of individual nodes??

I agree with Jeff, but you might get around that aspect of custom properties if you use a Yes/No type when possible. That way, every node will have either the True or the False value. Of course, this type of property will not be appropriate every time.

You could build a report which summarises your traffic or availability based on a custom property of building and then add that report to your view. It would be, by definition, a table rather than a chart or an expandable tree, but should give you the up-front information that you need.

How does one group node by location?.. I have gone into manage node and for custom properties it only lists City, comments and departments

In Custom properties under Nodes you can what ever custom field you want. We've added Region and group by region but you could just as easily add by building, address, city, state, country. One thing to keep in mind, every field you add from here applies to every node. Meaning it creates a blank field in the database fro every node. On small network this is no problem, but on a big network it's a problem. So these custom field should be some thing you're going to use for the majority of nodes and not just a few. If if for just a few then you're just using up database disc space for nothing.
